Missing MY beach

It’s been quite some time since the last time I entered some text into this blog (and probably will be a long time for the next one, since tomorrow I’ll go to a beach in an “away form civilization” place). My excuse: been busy traveling (and quite tired since I had a busy schedule). Nevertheless, though still tired, I’m forcing myself to get back in the habit.

It will soon be a year since the last time I saw my country, Ecuador, and I must confess; I’m really missing it. As a part of the homesick nostalgic blues, I sorted through some photos I took before leaving and found the ones in this note.

These photos were taken at Chipipe beach, in Salinas. What I wanted to recreate with them was the memories from my childhood (though life was already in color when then, but… It adds to the feel), when there was little people at the beach and most of them were fishermen making a round with their nets along the shore. In a matter of minutes they’ll come back with nets filled, and but the most abundant “prey” were all the curious people drag to the nets by mere curiosity or to pick the day’s lunch.

Though the beach is usually overcrowded nowadays, behind the noisy crowd you’ll find the elements that wondered you ages ago. The fishermen and their prey (though not as abundant as before) are still there, there is still a man pushing an ice cream car, kids playing in the sand and someone is taking a rest below the warm Ecuadorian sun.
